Children Activities

The MECPTA is proud to offer different Children’s Programs monthly to its members!  This includes opportunities throughout the year for your child to come play, create, learn, sing, jump, dance, cook, read, celebrate, and MUCH MORE at the following activities:

Science Night/Saturday: Your little scientist will LOVE this chance to explore, investigate, and learn about the world around them through the crazy fun experiments planned especially for young, growing minds!

Kid’s Kitchen:  Let your little Chef try out their kitchen skills! We will work on counting through measurement, fine motor skills with prep work, and challenging their pallet to new tastes. The Chefs will be making anywhere from one to two food items at each event.

Tiny Tots:  Something special for our youngest members (36 months and under), Tiny Tots will give your little one the chance to play and explore.  They’ll have no clue that they are actually busy developing their social, emotional, cognitive, gross, and fine motor skills!

Birthday Bash: Come join us for a fun birthday party, whether it’s your child’s this month, or not!  We’ll have fun celebrating together with a craft, music, games, and it wouldn’t be a party without BIRTHDAY CAKE!

Spanish Night: Come learn Spanish and have a fiesta with your amigos.

Parties: The MECPTA hosts several themed parties throughout the year. These parties are planned by a committee and are open to all members. They usually cost $2-3 per person and are geared around holidays or special events.

  • Trunk-Or-Treat/Halloween Party – Pumpkins, ghosts, spiders, and treats. Games and crafts to do! Wear your costumes and decorate the car, everyone will have tons of fun as we end the night with a ghoulish Trunk-or-Treat!
  • Christmas Party/ Winter Fest
  • Breakfast with the Bunny – Join us for a morning of pastries, crafts, candy and a chance to meet the Bunny!
  • Summer Picnic

Field Trips: Here are some example of the types of field trips we have gone on.

Seasonal Events
Seasonal Events usually take place at the same time each year and are planned in conjunction with a holiday or season. Past activities have included Memphis Kiddie Park in August, Akron Rubber Duckies game during the summer, Boyert’s Hayride & Pumpkin Patch in the fall, All Fired Up Pottery Painting and many other events.
Theater and Ticket Events
Theater and Tickets Events include the Discovery Children’s Series at Playhouse Square and several events at Quicken Loans Arena such as Disney on Ice, Cavs games, Monster games, and the Circus. We occasionally obtain Polar Express and Day Out With Thomas tickets through the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and tickets to events at other venues.
Educational Events
Educational Events can take place at local businesses or they are planned by our own members around a specific theme such as dog safety or stranger danger. We usually attend outdoor educational programs at Wolf Creek Environmental Center twice a year and have had the Akron Zoomobile and other local veterinary businesses teach the children about animals.
Enrichment Events
Enrichment Events are those events that do not fit under any of the above categories and typically just provide fun, social interactions for the children to partake in. These activities have included family bowling nights, indoor putt-putt at Rinky Dink, and cooking classes at Young Chef’s.
